In 2010, the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games were held in Vancouver. Vancouver and Whistler were the official co-hosts, and West Vancouver was a Venue City and the home to Cypress Mountain. Cypress was the official freestyle skiing and snowboard venue for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

North Shore Community Celebrations - February 2010
There are three North Shore Festival sites where people can gather, celebrate and share in the excitement of the Games. WinterFest at Lonsdale Quay, ValleyFest in Lynn Valley Village and Winter Carnival at Park Royal.

2010 Lasting Legacies
Many individuals and community groups, including the North Shore Spirit of B.C committee, worked on projects that enhanced the Games and provided lasting legacies. The Spirit Trail, which will span the North Shore from Deep Cove to Horseshoe Bay, is a good example of an enduring legacy.
North Shore 2010 Olympic Torch Relay
Cypress wasn't the only place on the North Shore with Olympic fever. North Vancouver was also very involved participating as a "Route Community" during the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay, holding themed events, hosting visitors and guests, and providing key transportation hubs for the Games.
