Come and celebrate the arrival of the Olympic Torch on the North Shore and the spirit of the Winter Games. Bring your Bear Bells and cheer on
the relay participants. Be sure to wear red, as part of the Paint the Town Red campaign, to show your support for our Canadian athletes.

Lonsdale Quay - Torch Relay Celebration 8-10am
On February 10th, 2010 the city of North Vancouver welcomes the Olympic Flame. A special celebration will take place at the Waterfront Plaza of the Lonsdale Quay Market from 8-10am. Be sure to wear red, as part of the Paint the Town Red campaign, to show your support for our Canadian athletes.
Lonsdale Quay Celebration will include:
- Countdown to the arrival and hand-off of the Olympic Flame
- Live music on the main stage (Vince Vaccaro)
- First Nations drum circle and dance performance
- Fire twirlers performance, face painting, balloons and Maple leaf tattoos
- Canadian flags and Spirit Bear Bell giveaways
- Food and refreshments
Deep Cove - Torch Relay Celebration 10:30-12pm
There will be a local torch relay celebration in scenic Deep Cove from 10:30 a.m. to noon (the torch arrives at 11 a.m.). Deep Cove will be abuzz with local high school students creatively enacting the stories of Olympic athletes, singing O'Canada and other great hits, and photographing the day's events for future exhibitions. Lynn Valley - Torch Relay Celebration 12:30-3pm
Don't miss the exciting three-hour celebration at the Lynn Valley Centre Mall (Mountain Highway and Lynn Valley Road) hosted by VANOC and the District of North Vancouver.
At this celebration the Olympic flame will stop on its journey for one hour before it moves on. While the flame remains at Lynn Valley it will live in a special cauldron - be sure not to miss the exciting lighting ceremony!
Entertainment will include noted children's entertainer Norman Foote, musical group August, the North Vancouver Youth Band, and many other North Shore entertainers. The RCMP will be at the event dressed in red serge and available for photos, and there will also be a variety of street performers, stilt-walkers and even a few former Olympians at the event. There will also be free hot chocolate if you need to warm up. Detailed information at www.dnv.org.
Lynn Valley event schedule:
- The pre-show will start at noon
- Official entertainment starts at 12:37 p.m.
- The flame will arrive at 1:52 p.m.
Please walk, ride your bike, take transit to the Lynn Valley Olympic Torch Celebration. Bike storage area will be at Lynn Valley Village. If you drive, please organize car pools. A map is provided to show parking areas and shuttle route.
Edgemont Village - 4pm
Join the fun in Edgemont Village to cheer on the Olympic Flame. Bring your family, dress in red, make some noise and celebrate with friends and neighbours.
The Village will be all decked out in red, with Canadian flags waving proudly from the streetlights and shops. Come to see the Olympic Flame, which is expected to arrive in the Village at approximately 4 p.m., and stay for the party and good company. Let's celebrate and make this a day to remember! More info
West Vancouver - Torch Relay Celebration

West Vancouver is pleased to present an evening celebration that will debut
the Canadian Winter Sport Showcase - a live dance performance complemented
by video and a high tech light show; then enjoy performances by local artists

Getting There
Please consider your travel plans.
Plan ahead and leave the car at home.
A reminder that traffic will be heavier than
normal during the Olympic Games. The best
way to help reduce traffic congestion, avoid
delays and help ensure the safety of spectators
is to leave your car at home. Please consider
walking, cycling or taking public transit to the
Torch Relay events. If you must drive, please
reduce your speed and watch for spectators -
especially children, along the relay route and
