North Shore Jazz Festival

June 22 – June 30, 2018

North Shore Jazz is a part of the annual Vancouver International Jazz Festival, which takes place in late-June to early July. Ticketed shows will be held on their home stage at Capilano University BCentre for the Performing Arts and at Presentation House Theatre, with a lineup of free, family-friendly shows at Civic Plaza, Lynn Valley Village and the West Vancouver Memorial Library. Ticketed evening concerts showcase diverse musical styles and sensibilities over the 10-day festival, with four headliners, each scintillating in their own style.

Eilen Jewell

Tue Jun 26 (8:00 PM to 10:30 PM)

The singer-songwriter “steps back into the wayback machine” with her acclaimed 2017 album, Down Hearted Blues, featuring “songs written or made famous by musicians both renowned and obscure, from Willie Dixon and Memphis Minnie to Charles Sheffield and Betty James” [NPR].

Jamison Ross

Wed Jun 27 (8:00 PM to 10:30 PM)

Jamison Ross emerged on the jazz scene as a commanding drummer. Since then, Ross – who blends jazz, gospel and soul – has also proven himself as a gifted and multifaceted composer, bandleader and vocalist, whose self-titled album, Jamison, earned a Grammy nomination.

David Hidalgo & Marc Ribot Duo

Thu Jun 28 (8:00 PM to 10:30 PM)

Separately, Los Lobos frontman David Hildago and guitarist Marc Ribot mesmerize with diverse string-based stylings. As a duo, they are awe-inspiring in their self-described ability “to stir your heart, challenge your head and move your body.”

Keith Bennett & Miles Black Pay Tribute to Toots and Stevie and Beyond

Fri Jun 29 (8:00 PM to 10:30 PM)

A tribute to two harmonica greats that promises to be both magnetizing and memorable. After debuting this show last year to a sold-out, ecstatic house at Frankie’s Jazz Club, quartet of accomplished jazz musicians  – with harmonica player Keith Bennett and pianist Miles Black at the fore – are touring the tribute.
