Why was Impressionism Subversive?
Most viewers think of Impressionism as pretty art that is easy on the eyes. However, when it first appeared, Impressionism was derided by many art critics.  Join us as we look at how changes to the city of Paris provided Impressionists with new types of subject matter.  We will examine the stylistic arguments Impressionism provoked and the challenge it posed to the conventional arts establishment.
