27jun7:30 pmNorth Shore Jazz: Tierney Sutton Band

Event Details

Each summer Capilano University presents North Shore Jazz as part of the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival in venues throughout the North Shore. The yearly line-up features an eclectic mix of stellar artists at venues including The BlueShore at Cap, Presentation House Theatre and the Kay Meek Centre plus free concerts at the Civic Plaza, Lynn Valley Village and the West Vancouver Memorial Library.

Superb song-stylist Tierney Sutton has received seven consecutive GRAMMY nominations for “Best Vocal Jazz Album”—a nomination for every project she’s released in the past decade! The New York Times states, “Ms. Sutton is a pure jazz spirit who respects a song. Even when going out on an improvisatory limb, she never lets its essence slip away.” Having recently garnered critical and popular acclaim with re-imaginings of Joni Mitchell’s Blue, the Tierney Sutton Band now turns its considerable talents to the diverse contemporary jazz-inflected pop repertoire of former Police frontman, Sting. With Christian Jacob piano, Trey Henry bass, Ray Brinker drums.
