Event Details

Join us for a celebration of Canadian literature brought to you by your North Shore public libraries – North Vancouver City, North Vancouver District and West Vancouver Memorial – as well as by the North Shore News and Friends Groups of the North Shore Libraries.

The 20th annual event takes place over two-days and offers literary lovers and hundreds of festival-goers a host of events including a Local Author’s Book Fair, a Literary Trivia Night, and inspiring author readings. The festival is capped off by a free reception to celebrate not only our presenters, but the greater North Shore Literary community and Writer’s Association.

a North Shore Writers’ Association Workshop

You’ve spent years honing your skills, months drafting, and weeks editing…all you need now is an audience! How do authors find their readers and how do readers find new authors? A Storyteller’s Journey with Monique Gray Smith

Writing the Personal: Lindsay Wong with JJ Lee

In conversation with fellow memoirist JJ Lee, Vancouver-based Lindsay Wong chats about her darkly comedic memoir and Canada Reads finalist The Woo-Woo: How I Survived Ice Hockey, Drug Raids, Demons, and My Crazy Chinese Family. Lindsay outlines how she wrote this deeply personal, smart and funny book, while exploring themes of youth, parenting and mental illness.

Join Cree author Darrel McLeod in conversation with Program Director for Community Knowledge Exchange, Alexander Dirksen. Darrel discusses the powerful themes of love, family, resilience and identity within his 2018 Governor General award-winning memoir Mamaskatch: A Cree Coming of Age, as well as the impact his book has had on its readers to date.

Writers + Readers Reception with JJ Lee

Admission Cost: 
All events are FREE thanks to support from the Friends of the North Shore Libraries. No registration required for speaking events.
Arrive early! Seating on a first-come, first-served basis.

Parking:
Free parking is available for up to 3 hours in the Lynn Valley Village parkade; please check posted signage for time limits. For those wanting to stay at all day, there are options for additional paid parking or street parking is available within a five minute walk.
