The City of North Vancouver invites the community to celebrate the start of the holiday season at its annual Christmas Festival on Saturday, December 2nd. The popular holiday festival takes place at The Shipyards from 4:00pm – 7:00pm.
The Shipyards will be transformed into a winter wonderland, filled with lights, music, entertainment, and festive activities. Additional holiday lights are planned for the Shipyards this winter. Also new this year, is a 65 foot Ferris wheel sponsored by the Lower Lonsdale Business Improvement Area. The LLBIA’s ‘Sky Wheel on the Pier’ will run from 4pm – 10pm and rides are by donation. The big wheel keeps on turning on Sunday, December 3, 10am – 8pm.
The City Christmas Festival includes activities to entertain and enchant all ages, such as ornament and lantern making, gingerbread decorating, face painting, balloon creations, music from the Beauty Shop Dolls and Windsor Senior Chamber Choir, free hot beverages, and free kettle corn and cotton candy for the first 500 guests. There will also be a Winter Artisan Market in the Pipe Shop from 4pm – 10pm.
At 5:00pm, Mayor Darrell Mussatto will light the City’s Christmas tree. The tree will be located beside the large yellow crane, and its lighting will officially start the festivities and illuminate Shipbuilders’ Square. The City’s Christmas Festival is coordinated by Twilight Markets.
It wouldn’t be a Christmas festival without a visit from Santa Claus. He’ll be joining Mrs. Claus in his workshop located next to the stage to meet everyone between 5:30pm – 7pm.
