Canada Day on the North Shore
Vancouver's North Shore will have no shortage of free, family friendly events this Canada Day. The only trouble you may have will be deciding which of the many events to attend! Here are some highlights to help you with your decisions.
North Vancouver Pancake Breakfast- 8-9:30am
Start your day with a Mount Seymour Lions Club pancake breakfast at Grand Boulevard at 14th. Cost $5, with net proceeds donated to support youth services on the North Shore.
North Shore Canada Day Parade - 10am
After breakfast make sure you stake out your spot along the street to catch the North Shore Canada Day Parade, the largest parade in BC. It begins at Grand Boulevard & 13th. The parade starts at 10 am sharp, with the popular Vancouver Police Motorcycle Drill Team. There are always lots of goodies for the kids. > More info.
North Shore Canada Day Fun at Waterfront Park 12-4pm
Celebrate Canada at Waterfront Park in North Vancouver. Festivities run from 12-4pm. A free family-oriented event with live music performances, entertainment, a craft fair, the BC Bike Race for Kids, rock climbing, mini golf and bouncy castles. > More info.
Canada Day at Lonsdale Quay - July 1, 11:30am-5:30pm
SummerFest 2011 kicks off Canada Day at Lonsdale Quay Market with a fantastic musical lineup, including the inspirational VOC Sweet Soul Gospel Choir and The Steel Toe Boots, a rockin' country band. The family will also enjoy face painting, balloons, and more - bring your sunscreen and your Canadian spirit! > More info
West Vancouver - John Lawson Park - 2:30-10:30pm
Dress in red and white and come down for a picnic at John Lawson Park to celebrate Canada Day. Bring your own picnic, or enjoy barbecued burgers, hotdogs and bratwurst onsite while watching live entertainment! > More info.
The Canada Day fireworks show starts at 10:30 p.m.

In addition to John Lawson Park, the fireworks show can be enjoyed from a number of spots in West Vancouver, including along the Seawalk between Dundarave and Ambleside Park. Other viewing spots include the North Shore, Stanley Park, Kitsilano Beaches, and Point Grey.
Friday Night Market at Shipbuilders' Square 5-11pm
The Friday Night Market has unique foods, art, and local entertainment. The Canada Day Celebration will include free shows for all ages.
