North Vancouver, BC: Delight your senses at SAVOUR, Lonsdale Quay Market's food and beverage festival, February 25-27, 2011. Explore the array of fine foods and the experts who prepare them, from locally grown produce to imported delicacies.
Rediscover the taste of Lonsdale Quay Market with Market Taste Tours, a cooking demonstration, beer sampling, artisanal food vendors, wine tasting, a nutrition seminar, contests, kids' activities, and more.
Market Taste Tours
SAVOUR is centered around five guided Market Taste Tours over three days. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to get to know the culinary experts who own shops at Lonsdale Quay Market, sample their offerings, and learn about these foods' nutritional benefits. Participants will also receive exclusive recipes and gifts from our vendors. Market Taste Tours are scheduled on February 25 at 5pm, February 26 at 11am and 5pm, and February 27 at 11am and 5pm.
Kids Tomato Planting
Kids can learn about food too! While supplies last, each child will receive a ceramic pot to paint, organic potting soil, and organic tomato seeds. They'll watch as their seeds sprout and grow juicy tomatoes, from now until summer. Kids activities are scheduled February 26-27, from 12-3pm in Kid?s Alley.
Sharky's Chophouse Cooking Demonstration
Sharky's Chophouse chefs demonstrate the preparation of a delicious winter feast. Learn the tricks of the trade in preparing Maple Chipotle Baby Back Ribs, served with Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus and Winter Mash. As a special bonus, watch as the chefs demonstrate how to deconstruct a whole chicken. The demonstration will take place on February 25 at 3pm.
From Stout to Cider
The Cheshire Cheese Restaurant and Bar presents From Stout to Cider, February 27 at 4pm. Sample and learn about Guiness and Strongbow, two of the UK's most popular beverages.
BC Wine Seminar
Artisan Wines will host a BC Wine Seminar February 26 at 4pm. Artisan Wines' experts will demonstrate the benefits of aeration, with two of BCs premier wines, Mission Hill SLC Merlot and Mission Hill Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.
Nutrition Seminar with Nutrition Fits Consulting
Nutrition Fits Consulting's Sarah Ware discusses living a healthy lifestyle and the benefits of shopping for fresh and local foods, February 25 at 3pm. The seminar will be followed by a Questions and Answers period in which visitors will have the opportunity to ask specific questions about their lifestyle goals.
The East Side Mario's Hot Wing Challenge
Take on the Hot Wing Challenge at East Side Mario's Saturday, February 26 at 6:30pm, as the Canucks take down the Bruins. The rules are simple - eat the most hot wings in a timed period to win great prizes. The grand prize is a Canucks jersey, and other prizes include cash and East Side Mario's gift certificates.
SAVOUR Menus
East Side Mario's and the Cheshire Cheese present special SAVOUR menus with three courses at an unbeatable price all weekend long.
