Arts & Culture
Arts and culture are alive and thriving on Vancouver’s North Shore. Our galleries draw talent from around the corner and across the globe. Following suit, our vibrant theatre scene ranges from rollicking Christmas pantos, musical theatre, and Shakespeare to works by renowned and emerging playwrights and choreographers. Concerts run the gamut from world-class jazz artists and sidesplitting Canadian comics, to classical music and dance extravaganzas.
The North Shore boasts an array of events that celebrate immigrant and indigenous cultures. The Tsleil-Waututh Nation’s Whey-ahwichen Canoe Festival and the Squamish Nation’s colourful August Pow Wow celebrate First Nations culture. There are many free outdoor summer concerts in Lynn Valley, Deep Cove, Edgemont villages showcasing traditions and talent from all backgrounds. Visitors can also immerse themselves at any number of small shops and galleries featuring locally crafted artwork.
