Capilano Suspension Bridge
There's a lot we could say about Greater Vancouver's number one attraction - like the visitors from around the globe that can't resist the thrill of crossing the 450-foot (137m) swaying bridge that's suspended 230 feet (70m) above Capilano River.
The bridge is situated in a thriving west coast rain forest that is full of creepy crawlies, nature trails and large evergreens. Enjoy this award winning attraction with the entire family through one of their interactive ecotours or on your own.
Originally built in 1889 by pioneer George Grant Mackay, the Capilano Suspension Bridge has since been rebuilt to support the some 80,000 visitors that come to it each year. The current bridge is 136 meters long and is suspended some 70 meters above the Capilano Canyon. It offers splendid views of the river below and old growth forest. Experiencing the thrill of Vancouver's largest suspension bridge is a must for any local or visitor.
Attractions at the Capilano Suspension Bridge
There's more authentic B.C. enchantment to be found in guided nature tours, explorer programs for kids, First Nations carvings demos, a totem pole park, snappy gift shop, and three great restaurants ready to fuel your day.
Treetops Adventure
The Capilano Suspension Bridge is also home to the award winning Treetops Adventure, where you can wander through the forest canopy along seven suspension bridges 100 feet (30m) above the ground.
The Treetops Adventure platforms allow visitors to experience the many Douglas fir trees from 30 meters above the ground. The custom-engineered, environmentally friendly observation platforms provide a unique bird's eye view of the forest surrounding.
Cliffwalk
Cliffwalk is the newest attraction at the Capilano Suspension Bridge. This heart-stopping cliff-side journey takes guests through rainforest vegetation on a series of suspended walkways jutting out from the granite cliff face above Capilano River to previously unexplored areas of the park. Not for the faint of heart, it is high and narrow and, in some sections, glass (very strong glass) is all that separates guests from the canyon far below.
