Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing is growing in popularity as an easy but fun winter experience!

Snowshoeing is an affordable way to get out and experience the great outdoors this winter. Vancouver’s North Shore is proud to be home to two of the top 10 snowshoe resorts in North America. Mt Seymour was rated #1 and Grouse Mountain was rated #9 snowshoe resort in North America by Snowshoe Magazine.

If you are visiting Vancouver, all three North Shore mountains Cypress MountainGrouse Mountain and Mt.Seymour have scenic snowshoe trails. You can get up close and personal with the West Coast forests. Explore the trails on your own or take a guided tour.

 

Cypress Mountain

Cypress Mountain has 11 km of safe, inbounds snowshoe trails that wind through the snowy sup-alpine forests and meadows. You can easily explore the snowshoe trails with a map. If you prefer a guided snowshoe tour, the 2-hour Hollyburn Meadows Tour provides a great introduction to snowshoeing. Your guide will share the rich history of the area, as you explore the snowy mountain forest. The snowshoeing area is located in Cypress Mountain’s Nordic Ski Area in West Vancouver. Lights to the Lodge, an enchanting 1km snowshoeing trail through old-growth forest to the historic Hollyburn Lodge strung with sustainable LED lights.

 

Mount Seymour

Rated #1 snowshoe resort in North America by Snowshoe Magazine.

The snowshoe trail system at Mount Seymour, in North Vancouver, has varied terrain including many loop options for all levels of snowshoers. Trails are well-marked trails with trail maps at each junction. If you are new to the sport or just looking for a scenic hike, the Discovery Snowshoe Trails are your best option. The trail system includes two scenic lakes and old-growth forests.

Enjoy the trails on your own or book with a professional snowshoe guide. There are a number of different guided tour options available for all ages and fitness levels.

 

Grouse Mountain

Grouse Mountain #9 rated snowshoe resort in North America by Snowshoe Magazine.

Grouse Mountain’s Munday Alpine Snowshoe Park has four groomed snowshoe trails to choose from and a perfect balance of groomed and single track snowshoeing, you will discover something new each time you visit!  Tour the groomed beginner and intermediate snowshoe trails of the Blue Grouse Loop, or head for Dam Mountain – a pristine loop of three main trails that circle Dam Mountain and Thunderbird Ridge.

You can find the trails easily with clearly marked signs from the top of Grouse Mountain.  Access to Grouse Mountain’s snowshoe trails is included with your Alpine Experience ticket or a valid pass. After your ‘Skyride’ up the mountain, you can hit the trails or get rentals. The snowshoe trails are easy to find with clearly marked signs. There are also a number of snowshoe tours including Boomers & Zoomers, Snowshoe Smore, Full moon and new moon nights, and Snowshoe Fondue.
