Event Details

A fibre artist originally from Northern Quebec, Diane Roy has been fascinated by the landscape and the ocean of Western Canada since she moved here thirty years ago.

Using organic and recycled materials, Diane creates her work through different techniques such as crocheting, knotting, twisting and weaving.  The resulting sculptures mimic the beauty that can be seen under water.

Black commercial fishing net, reworked into sculptural forms  evokes the alarming, destructive methods used in commercial fishing, largely responsible for the depletion of our oceans.

To learn more about Diane’s techniques and messages, come to North Vancouver City Hall for her artist talk on June 27 – everyone is welcome!
