( must be 19+ to enter the beer garden) DOGS are ALLOWED.The Shipyards Night Market believes in a local lifestyle, showcasing BC’s artisans, bakers and farmers. Products include; jewelry, clothing, kids wear, bakers, produce, preserves, soaps, organic meats, honey, plants, chocolate and many more must have handmade products. Don’t eat dinner before you come to the Night Market, as there are at least 20+ food trucks and 20+ food vendors selling unique and delicious locally made food. There is even something for your sweet tooth! This summer only, The Polygon Gallery will be transformed into a custom-built cinema, showing a film that runs for 24-hours which also functions as a real timepiece. The Clock by Christian Marclay has been called “a masterpiece of our times” and “maybe the greatest film you’ve ever seen”. The Clock montages film and television footage from the last 70 years, intricately edited in both its visuals and sound. Thousands of film fragments come together collaged into a full day of modern life, mirroring the experiences of our lives and unraveling a narrative that feels as if it will continue on forever.
On select Fridays, The Polygon will stay open for 24-hour screenings. Mark your calendar to join us on a Friday night this summer!
Admission is by donation.

About The Clock
Recognised as one of the most important contemporary artworks of our time, The Clock is an audiovisual tour-de-force. Presented in a custom-built cinema within the gallery, the work montages film and television footage from the last 70 years. The time represented in each clip is synchronised with actual time, allowing The Clock to function as a 24-hour timepiece. Christian Marclay won the coveted Gold Lion Award at the Venice Biennale in 2011 for this now-famous artwork, recently presented at the Tate Modern, London.

Plastic pollution doesn’t belong in nature but unfortunately many of our parks and rivers are littered with plastic waste. Some of this will eventually make its way to the ocean where it can be very harmful to marine life. Scientists predict there will be more plastic than fish (by weight) in the sea by 2050. It’s also estimated that 80 percent of ocean litter originates on land.
Bring your kids and come along to Mahon Park to learn more about what we can all do to minimize our impact on the natural world and how we can make a positive difference. The participants will be divided into family groups and do a clean up around Mahon Park and Wagg Creek. Afterwards there will be a talk by Noah Katz from Plastic Bank who will tell us more about practical solutions globally and locally to tackling plastic waste.
We’ll meet by the picnic tables in Mahon Park.
This stewardship event is organized by two students from Queensbury Elementary School in North Vancouver.
