Lighthouse Park is a symbol of West Vancouver, one of Vancouver’s most beautiful areas and boasts the largest uncut rainforest in the Lower Mainland. The park is unique for the fact that it is Vancouver’s last standing first-growth Douglas fir tree forest. It is the perfect location for enjoying crashing waves, dense vegetation, stargazing and over six miles of scenic walking trails every season.
Lighthouse Park is a natural paradise and an ideal example of West Coast vegetation. The 75-hectare (185 acres) seaside park, in the depths of suburban West Vancouver, has been home to a lighthouse since 1874. The existing structure was built in 1912. The Lighthouse is a National Historic Site and is one of the most photographed and recognizable landmarks in Lower Mainland.
If you are travelling with your dog, you will be happy to know that well-behaved dogs that can stay on the trails are allowed off-leash in the park.
Lighthouse Park is located off Marine Drive at the south end of Beacon Lane in West Vancouver.
If you are driving, follow Marine Drive into West Vancouver, continue west then turn left off Marine Drive onto Beacon Lane and continue toward the parking lot.
By transit take the West Vancouver Blue Bus #250 Horseshoe Bay, which you can catch in downtown Vancouver, at Park Royal or along Marine Drive in West Vancouver. Get off at the Beacon Lane on Marine Drive and walk south along Beacon Lane into the park.
