Halloween Happenings on Vancouver’s North Shore 2019

October 10, 2019 |

It’s spooky season and we are feeling a chill in the air on the North Shore! Whether you’re brave enough to to get a fright at a Haunted House or want to keep your cool with a Halloween-themed treat there’s something for you.

1. Haunt of Edgemont

Do you think you’re brave enough?! The Haunt of Edgemont is a FREE Haunted House at a residential house in Edgemont Village. The house is known to be one of the best-haunted houses in the Lower Mainland with live actors, creepy crawlies, and terrifying sounds awaiting those brave enough to venture inside. While not for the faint of heart, all are welcome inside…

2. Bone appétit

Temper Pastry is notorious throughout the North Shore for its delicious European-style pastries, cakes and chocolates. At Halloween they somehow manage to step up their game even further with delectable chocolate skulls and pumpkin patches. Make your Halloween party really special with a sweet treat from Temper!

Advance ordering for special products is recommended.

3. Day of the Dead

A different kind of celebration in October! Although not a Halloween event, this Day of the Dead celebration had to be included in our list! Day of the Dead – or Día de Muertos – is a holiday celebrated in Mexico every year. Beginning on October 31st and running until November 2nd, the holiday encourages families to come together and remember those who they have lost. This year attendees will have the opportunity to learn about this cultural celebration, taste Day of the Dead’s bread, see an altar, and have hands-on experience creating Linocut prints from one of Jose Guadalupe Posada’s skull illustrations.

Free of charge. Everyone is welcome. Registration required.

4. Trick or Treat!

Halloween wouldn’t be complete without trick or treating and there are plenty of opportunities to stock up on treats at independent businesses in Lower Lonsdale on October 31st. Stop by any retailers with the pumpkin sign in their window to trick or treat.

5. Snap Some Selfies

Unless you’re scared of heights a visit to Capilano Suspension Bridge is nothing but a treat! Around this time of year it makes for even more of an experience as they’ve decorated for the season with pumpkins galore.

Plan your visit to Capilano Suspension Bridge.
