It’s almost time to ring in 2016! Do you have plans or are you looking ideas for things to this New Year’s Eve? On Vancouver’s North Shore we have plenty of options for you both indoor and outdoor. Here are just a few ideas of things to do New Year’s Eve 2016:

Family-Friendly New Year’s Eve Events

This year both Grouse Mountain and Mt Seymour are hosting family-friendly New Year’s Eve events. With all the fresh snow on the mountains, these events are sure to be a hit with the whole family.

Family First Night at Mt Seymour

When: December 31st from 6pm. This event is now SOLD OUT
Mt Seymour’s Family First Night includes tobogganing, live entertainment, performers, free hot chocolate, s’mores and much more. You don’t event have to drive up the mountain, as free shuttle bus service from Parkgate Center is included with your ticket. The evening concludes with an early NYE countdown and a mountaintop fireworks at 9pm.

Family New Year’s Eve at Grouse Mountain

Enjoy a Family New Year’s Eve at Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver. This family-friendly event includes fun and entertainment for all ages – fire dancers, enchanting wizards, and magical winter wonderland characters and more! Celebrate early with a NYE countdown and fireworks at 9pm. There will be a a complimentary family snowshoe tour at 9:15pm.

Don’t forget there is also a free family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration happening in downtown Vancouver, which is only a 15 minute SeaBus ride from North Vancouver. There will be live music, entertainment and fireworks at midnight. There will be a celebration for younger children at 9pm.

Looking for a fun-filled and memorable way to celebrate New Year’s Eve with friends and family? Ring in 2016 at Grouse Mountain with a special New Year’s Eve Snowshoe Fondue package. Your ticket include a one-hour guided snowshoe tour, headlamp, snowshoe rentals, Skyride access and fondue. The snow conditions are amazing right now, and it looks like the weather will be clear for New Year’s Eve.

New Year’s Eve Dining Out

Many restaurants have special New Year’s Eve menu and here are just a few of the favourite local spots. The cozy Arms Reach Bistro in Deep Cove is offering a a special three-course meal.  The Pier 7 Restaurant located on the waterfront in North Vancouver, is offering an early New Years Eve seating menu as well as a Gala dinner menu. At the Peak of Vancouver The Observatory and Altitudes Bistro are hosting New Year’s Eve Galas, special menus and varied seating times available. The Beach House in Dundarave is offering a four-course menu from 5pm until 10:30pm. The Salmon House is offering both early and late seating with two special menus. Looking for something fun, but a little less formal? Check out the largest restaurant in Western Canada – Tap & Barrel – Shipyards in North Vancouver, accepting reservations and we hear there is still space for large groups.

Potluck at Green Leaf Brewing

The Green Leaf Brewing at Lonsdale Quay is be hosting a New Year’s Eve potluck dinner from 7pm onward.

Seymour’s Pub

Seymour’s Pub located near the Holiday Inn in North Vancouver is hosting a New Year’s Party. No cover charge, DJ, party favours, complimentary snacks at midnight. Open until 2am.

Troller Ale House

The Troller Ale House in Horseshoe Bay is hosting a New Year’s Eve Party. No cover charge, party favours, free midnight toast and late night snacks.

Free Transit New Year’s Eve

Don’t forget that Translink is offering FREE and extended transit service on New Year’s Eve. Free service starts at 5 p.m. December 31, 2015 and goes until 5 a.m. January 1, 2016. SeaBus will extend service by about one hour with the last sailing departing from Lonsdale Quay at 2 a.m. and departing from Waterfront at 2:20 a.m. Use the Trip Planner to check your route and the New Year’s Eve bus schedules.
