In addition to enjoying the abundance of outdoor activities and attractions that Vancouver’s North Shore has to offer, summertime is jammed packed with free events for the whole family. Here’s our run down of this weekend’s hottest events in North Vancouver. FREE outdoor concerts, outdoor movies and seaside fun. The trouble will be trying to decide which events to attend.
Shipyards Night Market
When: Friday, July 22 5-10pm
Where: Shipyards, North Vancouver
The weekend events kick off every Friday at the Shipyards Night Market. This market features live music, 40+ food trucks, local vendors, and a beer garden serving local craft beer and ciders.This very popular outdoor market runs weekly from May to October. The Shipyards are located on the waterfront in North Vancouver, a beautiful spot to spend a summer evening.
Live & Local Lynn Valley Village
When: Friday, July 22 7-9pm
Where: Lynn Valley Village, North Vancouver
This week’s free outdoor Live and Local Concert in Lynn Valley features Platform Soul. Bring your dancing shoes and get ready to groove to the disco tunes at Lynn Valley Village in North Vancouver. Concert starts at 7pm, but arrive early to find a spot.
Live & Local Deep Cove
When: Friday, July 22 7-9pm
Where: Panorama Park, North Vancouver
This week’s free outdoor Live and Local Concert in Deep Cove features Mostly Marley. Get into the spirit of Reggae with Mostly Marley, playing Classic Reggae tunes by various artists. The concert takes place in the scenic village of Deep Cove in North Vancouver. Concert starts at 7pm, but arrive early to find a spot.
Family Movie Night in the Plaza
When: Friday, July 22 7-11pm
Where: Civic Plaza (14th & Lonsdale), North Vancouver
Bring the family to watch Inside Out on the big screen under the stars this Friday at Civic Plaza in North Vancouver. Arrive early to find a spot and take part in the kids bike rodeo starting at 7pm. Vancouver based pop star DANI will also be giving a special performance at 8pm. The movie will start at dusk, about 9:30pm.
Caribbean Days Parade
When: July 23 10-11:30am
Where: North Vancouver
The Caribbean Days Parade kicks off the Caribbean Days Festival in North Vancouver. The Multicultural Street Parade takes place on Saturday, July 22 from 10-11:30am. The streets of North Vancouver come alive with the sights and sounds of Carnival. Parade onlookers will enjoy spectacular costumes, Caribbean style and culture. The parade starts at 12th and Lonsdale Avenue and ends at Waterfront Park.
Caribbean Days Festival
When: July 23 & 24, 2016 11am to 7pm
Where: Waterfront Park, North Vancouver
Enjoy a weekend of tropical rhythm, cuisine, & culture at the Caribbean Days Festival July 23rd & 24th at Waterfront Park in North Vancouver. The festival will feature live entertainment, an international food fair and a craft market. The main stage will host a lineup of bands playing Reggae, Calypso, as well as other international music.
Cates Park Concerts
When: July 23 4-7pm
Where: Cates Park, North Vancouver
Cates Park is the place to see up and coming local artists performing live on the outdoor stage this summer. On Saturday, July 23rd from 4-7pm the free Cates Park Concerts will feature three local bands: Only a Visitor, Wind-Up Birds and All Kings Assembly.
When: July 23rd 7-10pm
Where: The Shipyards, North Vancouver
On Saturday nights in the summer, head down to the North Vancouver waterfront for free Summer Sessions concerts. This get into the groove with The So Tight Band July 23 from 7-10pm. Do you love to dance? If so, bring your dancin’ shoes along, as there will be prizes for the best dancers. If not, just relax and enjoy the tunes. In addition to the live music, there will be food trucks, local artisans, beverage garden.
When: July 24 1-3pm
Where: Lonsdale Quay, North Vancouver
On Sunday July 24th from 1-3pm enjoy a free, live SummerFest Concert featuring Kernel Reggae at the Lonsdale Quay Market. The outdoor stage is located on the South Plaza, and has an amazing view of Vancouver’s skyline.
